In May 2003, I graduated from Huntingdon College with two Bachelors of Arts, one of which is in Mythology. The curriculum for my Mythology degree was created as an interdisciplinary study with the guidance of Dr. Greg Salyer.
I intend to practically apply this undergraduate degree in the pursuit of a PhD in English as I focus my graduate studies on developing a rhetoric for Southern mythology. I have every intention of becoming a contemporary mythologist and folklorist, in addition to a productive professor of English. I have no doubt this will be a lifelong quest as I research, read, write, and theorize. I was recently accepted into the Masters program in Literature at Georgia State University, and am eager to begin my quest there.
In this journal, you will find notes from my readings, ruminations (e.g., on cultural exchanges), plans of study, academic papers and essays, and even some creative works.
Besides being a dedicated academic, I am also a writer. My written works have run the gamut from fantasy to creative nonfiction to poetry. Though I have been published often in The Prelude (my alma mater's literary magazine), my original works have not yet been published professionally. I am continuously working to improve my writing and am submitting my short stories and poetry to magazines and anthologies hither and yon.

Current research interests include: folklore, fairy tales, American Mythology, globalisation, cultural borderlands, mental illness and culture, theological issues (such as neo-paganism), Native American studies, prophecy, and the relationship between the American consciousness and film.
